The video cloud platform is deployed in the public cloud and consists of different software function modules such as central management, database, streaming media forwarding, storage management, video access, and video sharing. Realize the access, convergence, forwarding and sharing of video resources.
The video cloud platform adopts micro-service architecture design and is developed separately from the front and back ends. The micro-service architecture gives the system the following advantages:
Scalability: When adding business functions, the single application architecture needs to make relatively large adjustments based on the code of the original architecture, while the micro-service architecture only needs to add new micro-service nodes and adjust the associated micro-service nodes. To increase service responsiveness, a single architecture needs to be expanded, while a microservice architecture needs to expand only microservice nodes that are not responsive enough.
Fault tolerance: When the system fails, the single application architecture needs to repair the whole system, involving code changes and application start and stop, while the microservice architecture only needs code changes and service start and stop for faulty services. Other services can achieve application-level fault tolerance through retry, circuit breaker and other mechanisms.
Flexible technology selection: Under the micro-service architecture, each micro-service node can freely choose the most suitable technology stack according to the different functions required for completion. Even if the reconstruction of a single micro-service node, the cost is very low.
More efficient development and operation: Each microservice node is a single process, focused on a single function, and clearly expresses service boundaries through well-defined interfaces. Due to its small size and low complexity, each micro-service can be fully controlled by a small team or individual, making it easy to maintain high maintainability and development efficiency.
